Sir Alex Ferguson has been branded 'evil' by one of his former Manchester United players.

Manchester United legend Patrice Evra says 'evil' Sir Alex Ferguson would be in 'jail' today for what he did as a manager.

Ferguson enjoyed a legendary spell at Man United, winning an impressive 13 Premier League titles.

He also won two Champions League titles during his iconic spell at Old Trafford.

The Scot, who is the most successful manager in British football history, was known for his hairdryer treatment and intimidation tactics of opponents and officials.

One of his most infamous bust-ups transpired when he kicked a football boot that hit David Beckham in the final months of his time at Man United.

His methods were borderline cruel. Well, that's according Evra, who claimed if Ferguson was coaching today he would end up in jail.

"If Ferguson was coaching right now he would probably end up in jail," he said on the SDS podcast. "There's no way Ferguson would not be in jail with what he would do to."

Evra continued his stunning rant by branding Ferguson 'evil', claiming he saw many players break down in tears during his time at the club.

"Do you know how many players I saw cry because he gave them the hairdryer, throwing boots - he was evil," he added.

Evra also recalled a friendly match, where Ferguson saw red and aimed a foul-mouthed rant at then-Man United youngster Danny Welbeck, who had missed a penalty in the fixture.

"[Wayne] Rooney gave the ball to Welbeck but he missed the penalty. We lost the game, but it was a friendly, like a 45 minute game," he revealed.

"When we got back into the dressing room, Ferguson [shouted] 'Welbeck!' Me and Welbeck were in the toilet, he was having a pee, but Ferguson was shouting.

"'Who the f**k do you think you are? Coming in the first team, taking a penalty'. I was like 'boss, it's just a friendly game'. He was like 'F**k the friendly game'."
