Manchester City’s midfield is set to undergo a revamp this summer.
Kevin De Bruyne is set to bring his 10-year career at Man City to an end once the 2024/25 campaign concludes, while there is uncertainty over the future of Ilkay Gundogan at the Etihad Stadium.
Man City have Florian Wirtz as their top target to replace the Belgian star, as for the German, AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders is now being pursued by the Manchester club, while Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White remains on Guardiola’s list.
The arrival of these stars will make up Man City’s midfield next season, alongside Rodri, and therefore the Premier League club will have to sell players, with the Manchester club now close to agreeing a £25m deal for the exit of a midfielder.

Maximo Perrone closing in on Como move
Maximo Perrone joined Man City from Argentinian side Velez Sarsfield in January 2023 for around £8m and has only made two appearances for the Premier League club since then.
The Argentina star has spent the current campaign on loan with Como, and according to Manchester Evening News, the Italian side are closing in on a deal for the 22-year-old that would see him join the Serie A outfit permanently for over £25m (€30m).

That will see City make around £17m profit on the player, which is a great bit of business that will help fund their summer spending.
Perrone was hopeful of staying at Como next season as the midfielder is happy in Italy and believes he is developing under the guidance of Cesc Fabregas.
The 22-year-old seems to be making the right decision for his career as the Man City loanee has been a key part of Como’s success over recent months, as they currently sit in tenth in the Serie A standings.

How Maximo Perrone has performed for Como this season
Guardiola is a fan of Perrone, with the Man City boss once labelling the Argentina star as ‘quality’ via HITC after his only appearance in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old showed this in Italy throughout the current campaign as the midfielder has featured in 24 matches for Fabregas’ team, producing three assists from his number six role along the way.
Everyone at Como is happy with Perrone, as the Man City star has clearly kicked on from his loan spell in La Liga last season with Las Palmas.
City fans will be hoping that their club is not making another Cole Palmer mistake when it comes to the Argentine midfielder, as it remains to be seen how far the 22-year-old can go in the game, although the signs are promising.
