Tottenham Hotspur superstar set to miss Europa League final vs Manchester United

Manchester United are in full preparation mode as they gear up for the highly anticipated Europa League final next week.

Ruben Amorim is doing everything he can to ensure his side enter the clash against Tottenham Hotspur with momentum, especially after a turbulent Premier League season.

With Champions League qualification now out of reach, the Europa League final remains United’s only shot at silverware and redemption this campaign.

Both United and Spurs have endured miserable domestic runs, with a combined 37 league defeats between them, marking their worst top-flight seasons since their respective relegations in the 1970s.

While Amorim’s men take on Chelsea in their final league fixture before the final, Spurs face a tricky away trip to Aston Villa just 45 minutes earlier.

But in a development that could tilt the balance ahead of the Bilbao final, Tottenham are sweating over the fitness of Dejan Kulusevski.

The Swedish international was forced off the pitch after just 19 minutes during Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday, suffering a knee injury.

Initially, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou appeared optimistic about Kulusevski’s condition, admitting the knee was “still sore” but stating the forward “should be okay.”

However, fresh reports suggest the 25-year-old’s chances of making a full recovery in time for the final have now diminished significantly, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Dejan Kulusevski has been one of Spurs’ most reliable attacking outlets this season, netting ten goals, including strikes against United in both the Premier League and League Cup earlier in the campaign.

His absence would be a huge blow for Spurs, who are already without key players James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall due to injury.

Postecoglou has admitted he’ll be wrapping his squad “in cotton wool” as they aim to end a trophy drought stretching back to 2008.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will be hoping Kulusevski’s potential absence weakens Spurs’ threat as they aim to close a disappointing season with European glory.
