Gary Neville has claimed that TEN Manchester United stars could leave the club this summer in a brutal cull. The Red Devils have endured a rotten campaign this term and could even finish the season just a place above the relegation zone.

United have still managed to reach the Europa League final and will seal a spot back in the Champions League if they beat Tottenham later this month. Regardless of the result, club icon Neville is still expecting a huge overhaul in the squad this summer, with numerous exits expected.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, the former defender said: “You're talking about eight to 10 players have to go. There's three or four players that will leave through being out of contract, and he needs to get [another] five or six out, and they're going to have to pay to get them out.

“Rashford's wages now will be paid half by Manchester United. That's £180,000-a-week, £8million-a-year being paid by United.”

As it stands, four stars are set to leave at the end of their deals, with Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans all seeing their contracts expire in just a month’s time. Tom Heaton also has an expiring contract but reports have claimed that United are keen to keep him at the club for a further year.

Meanwhile, those out on loan including Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are all expected to be sold in the summer. There might also be some sales that United do not want, with Bruno Fernandes having been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Saudi Arabia, albeit Amorim is determined to keep the Portuguese midfielder at Old Trafford.

Neville is not the only former United star expecting a mass exodus over the coming months. Former teammate Rio Ferdinand has also suggested that Amorim could cut up to half of the current squad at his disposal.

He said: “I think he looks around the dressing room and thinks ‘If I could wave a magic wand, in the next five years at least 50 per cent of this team wouldn't be here’.

“Because they're not good enough and they're not right for the way he wants to play. I look at him and think that he needs, minimum, two good windows of getting rid of the ones he doesn't require but also getting in players that he really needs.”
