Manchester United and Chelsea are in the race to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap ahead of the summer transfer window, but both clubs have multiple options for the centre-forward position, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.
Delap has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season in the Premier League, reaching double digits for goals in England's top flight despite Ipswich's relegation to the Championship. Already a proven goalscorer in the league, clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United could be in the race as they target a relatively risk-free option on a cheap deal.
United are likely to be in the market for a new centre-forward when the summer transfer window opens after a disappointing season in the Premier League. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have failed to deliver, so it could be a priority position for the Red Devils to strengthen.

Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has confirmed that both Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing Delap. The Ipswich striker hasn't made a decision yet, while both clubs have multiple options to strengthen their forward line...

Delap has a £30m release clause in his contract after Ipswich's relegation was confirmed, so we could see a host of clubs vying for his signature. Reports have suggested that Delap could demand in the region of £150k-a-week to sign on the dotted line in the summer transfer window, while it's also been claimed that he's already chosen to join United.
If any interested party are willing to match his wage demands, then it could be a relatively easy deal to do, but they'll have to move fast. A £30m fee certainly represents good value for a young player with Premier League experience already, so the likes of United and Chelsea might want to get ahead of the competition.
