Panchkula steps up vigil in areas frequented by women, 9 bus routes
Panchkula: A total of 58 hotspots — areas frequently visited by women — have been identified across Panchkula and are under constant surveillance. In addition, nine major bus routes commonly used by women have been marked for heightened safety.Female police officers have been deployed on these routes to ensure safety and to promote awareness about security measures. Panchkula police Tuesday launched several initiatives combining technology and on-ground vigilance. These include a trip monitoring system, 24x7 helpline services, mobile apps, and physical patrolling to ensure women feel safe and empowered in public spaces. Women and female students are being informed about the trip monitoring system, where they can share travel details — such as name, mobile number, destination, and time — with the police.TNN
