Liverpool have verbally agreed personal terms with Jeremie Frimpong, Anfield sources have told Football Insider.
Liverpool have been busy laying the groundwork for a deal for the right-back and, while a full agreement is not yet in place, Frimpong is open to a move to Anfield.
Anfield chiefs must now decide if and when to proceed with the possible move as they consider replacements for Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has already confirmed to be leaving Liverpool.
Frimpong extended his contract with Leverkusen last year until 2028 but looks certain to depart the club this summer and has a release clause of around £29.6million.
He is a good friend of Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, and also knows Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo from his time in Dutch international camps.

However, his performances have caught the attention of other Premier League clubs. Football Insider revealed that Man City explored the possibility of bringing Frimpong back during the January transfer window as a potential successor to Kyle Walker.
The Dutch international, who originally came through City’s academy, could now return to English football, but it remains to be seen where he will end up.
Despite renewed interest from his former club, Liverpool fans have urged the Reds to secure Frimpong’s signature after reports have suggested the defender would be open to a switch to Anfield, adding further fuel to the speculation.
