Unai Emery could make three changes to his Aston Villa side to face Tottenham on Friday, with Tyrone Mings potentially set to face the axe.

The Villans must secure another three points, as they did against Bournemouth last time out, in a bid to secure a top-five finish.

As a result, expectations will be high as Spurs prepare to travel to Villa Park on 16 May, less than a week after the Ollie Watkins-inspired win at the Vitality.

Villa will be fully focused on the clash in B6, while Ange Postecoglou’s side will be firmly focused on the Europa League final just five days later.

This could serve Emery’s side well against the North London outfit, with the Spaniard potentially set to drop Mings in the Midlands.

It finally feels as if Emi Martinez has found his groove once again after keeping back-to-back Premier League clean sheets against Fulham and Bournemouth.

In his last outing, the Argentina international made two saves and prevented 0.70 expected goals to help ease Villa to a 1-0 win [FotMob], which will likely see him start once again.

Ahead of the keeper, two changes could be utilised to see Ian Maatsen and Pau Torres come back into the side, to replace Mings and Lucas Digne alongside Ezri Konsa and Matty Cash.

This comes after the English defender failed to complete a long ball with a zero per cent accuracy while also being involved in a controversial incident with Alex Scott. This, tied in with his recent injury issues, could see the 32-year-old be benched against the N17 side.

Ahead of the back four, Boubacar Kamara could be joined once again by Amadou Onana, who was superb against Bournemouth as he won 10 duels while contributing with nine defensive actions.

Marco Asensio could also be set to keep his place after hitting the post with his only shot of the game against the Cherries last time out.

The Spaniard could be joined once again by Morgan Rogers, with captain John McGinn potentially set to come in for Jacob Ramsey after his red card for two yellow cards on the south coast.

This could see the Scotland international look to feed Watkins after his record-breaking goal at the Vitality, which secured a 100 per cent conversion rate.

Aston Villa must win v Tottenham

It has to be said that a defeat against a poor Tottenham side would completely derail any chance of Champions League qualification at Villa Park.

With the Villans sitting in sixth place, there is still every chance of overtaking Chelsea before the season comes to an end.

As a result, Emery will be hopeful of securing a huge win to take the race until the final day as his side prepares for a trip to face Manchester United.

It is certainly the business end of the season, and a win against Tottenham is the most important thing to focus on right now in B6.
