It has been touted that Liverpool are preparing for a big summer overhaul, with Arne Slot expected to make sweeping changes.

It’s easy to forget that the Dutch manager is still yet to leave his imprint on the squad, having won the title with Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Fresh from securing their 20th league title, sporting director Richard Hughes and Slot are prioritizing a left-back, striker, and center-back, with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez (£45m) and Dean Huijsen (£50m release clause) among the top targets.

DAVEOCKOP exclusively revealed on Monday that the Anfield club and Jeremie Frimpong’s representatives held preliminary talks that night.

We further revealed that the £30m clause is payable in four instalments.

Frimpong offers Liverpool a significant homegrown quota advantage because, despite being a Dutch international, he spent nine years in Manchester City’s academy.

Under Premier League rules, a homegrown player is defined as someone registered with an English or Welsh club for at least three years before turning 21, regardless of nationality.

But as is the Liverpool way under FSG, the club are doing their homework on other targets as well.

Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail has come out to report that Liverpool have RB Leipzig’s Lutsharel Geertruida on their shortlist this summer.

The Dutch international joined Leipzig from Feyenoord in August 2024 for €25 million and remains under contract until 2029.

Geertruida thrived under Slot during their tenure at Feyenoord, where the defender’s adaptability proved instrumental in securing the 2022/23 Eredivisie title and KNVB Cup.

Deployed as a right-back, center-back, and even a defensive midfielder, Geertruida recorded 9 goals and 5 assists in Slot’s final season.

His ability to invert into midfield, a hallmark of Slot’s system, allowed Feyenoord to dominate possession phases – a trait Liverpool now seeks to replicate.

Back in 2024, the player was linked to Liverpool while he was still at Feyenoord with Dutch media well aware of how much Slot relied on him in Rotterdam.

Steele explains that the 24-year-old is highly rated by the Anfield club’s Dutch contingent:

“A player well known to – and rated by – Liverpool’s Dutch contingent, Geertruida has been capped by his country on 16 occasions and was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2024.”

“Liverpool have always enjoyed a healthy business relationship with RB Leipzig, having bought Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szboszslai from them in recent seasons, but nothing has advanced beyond interest at present. Geertruida’s future, though, should be followed closely.

It is believed Leipzig value Geertruida at €35 million.
