'And I'm not…'– Man Utd legend is'not ashamed'to admit harsh truth behind'most important player'for Ruben Amorim

Patrice Evra has refused to play down the impact that one key first-team Manchester United player has had for Ruben Amorim’s men at Old Trafford this season.

Manchester United have endured a disastrous 2024-25 Premier League campaign and the Red Devils currently languish in 16th place in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils are winless in their last five Premier League matches and United have only managed 10 league wins from their 36 league fixtures this season.

Ruben Amorim watched on from the Old Trafford dugout on Sunday as United suffered a 2-0 defeat to West Ham in their latest Premier League outing.

United’s loss to West Ham was the Red Devils’ 17th Premier League defeat of the season and the Hammers even climbed above the club in the table after the match.

Amorim’s side have only two Premier League matches remaining in their 2024-25 campaign and United can no longer climb back into the top half of the table.

The 40-year-old United manager’s season is now entirely dependent on whether the Red Devils can pull off major silverware success in their 2024-25 Europa League run.

Patrice Evra’s praise for Bruno Fernandes after Man Utd’s run of form under Ruben Amorim in the Premier League and the Europa League

Manchester United will end the season with their worst finish in the Premier League table since the formation of England’s top-flight league all the way back in 1992.

Bruno Fernandes has remained as influential as ever in the United first-team squad and the 30-year-old has continued to produce for Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim.

The United captain has netted 19 times and registered 19 assists in 54 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils in their lacklustre 2024-25 campaign.

Patrice Evra said that United might not have been in the Europa League final and could have faced Premier League relegation if they didn’t have Bruno Fernandes.

“He’s the most important player in the team,” he told Sky Sports.

“If Bruno wasn’t there, maybe we wouldn’t even be in the final of the Europa League.

“And I’m not ashamed to say that [United could have been potentially relegated from the Premier League without him].”

Patrice Evra speaks out on Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd side reaching the 2025 Europa League final to face Tottenham

The Europa League remains a lifeline for the Red Devils to secure Champions League football and their return to Europe in the 2025-26 campaign under Amorim.

Amorim could also end the season at Old Trafford with his first piece of major silverware as United manager if the Red Devils capture the Europa League title.

United knocked Athletic Club out of the Europa League semi-finals and punched their ticket to the 2025 final in Spain, with the Red Devils now facing Tottenham.

“We are in this final and we need to make sure we get the right players to be competitive,” Evra added.

“We need to forget this season. I’m confident, but it’s going to be tough. Come on, United.”

United meet Tottenham in the Europa League final on 21st May at Athletic Club’s San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, with kick-off slated for 8pm UK time.
