Washington Wizards fans let their frustrations out on team owner Ted Leonsis following the team's unsavory result in the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery.
Every Wizards fan knows the team was dealt the worst possible hand during Monday's lottery. Washington had a 52.1% shot at a top-four pick and an 80% chance of at least staying in the top five. But as fate would have it, the Wiz fell to sixth in a draft with a significant drop-off following the top prospects.
Leonsis tried to look on the bright side, touting front office executives Michael Winger and Will Dawkins as more than capable of making "something special" happen.
"This year’s NBA Draft is another opportunity for the Washington Wizards to level up and build for the future," Leonsis said in his statement.
"With Michael Winger and Will Dawkins leading the charge we are committed to doing the hard work necessary to build and strengthen our foundation for something special."
Rather than be receptive to what felt like generic PR speak from Leonsis, several Wizards fans took the opportunity to let the owner know how they felt. Many fans responded with a similar message for the 68-year-old billionaire: Sell the team.
"Sell the team old man," one fan responded.
"Sell the team Ted," another fan said.
"Sell the team. Let’s get some real ownership," a third fan weighed in.
While a number of fans blasted ted, a good number of Wizards supporters also claimed that the whole thing was rigged and asked Ted to look into it.
The Wizards have had a losing record in 10 of the 15 seasons since Leonsis took control of the team in 2010. Washington made the playoffs five times in that span.

The last time Washington made the playoffs was thanks to the the play-in tournament during the 2020-21 campaign. The 34-38 Wizards snuck in as an eighth seed and lost 4-1 to the Philadelphia 76ers.
While Wizards fans are clearly upset that the team is likely missing out on both prized prospects Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper, all hope is not lost. Dawkins and Winger have proven proficient at scouting talent in the draft and could still land a stud at six.
