Marshall: Chido Obi magic, Leny Yoro clue and selection hints - five things spotted in Man…

Obi was in fine form during Wednesday's training session

Manchester United trained at Carrington on Wednesday as they continued their preparations for next week's Europa League final against Tottenham.

Although United face Chelsea in the Premier League on Friday, they held their pre-final media day two days before the Stamford Bridge clash, which meant a longer open training session.

The media got to see around 45 minutes of the session, with numerous TV cameras and photographers in attendance as plans for next week's showpiece stepped up.

The MEN was in attendance at Carrington and this is what we picked up from the session:

Obi's moment

When 17-year-old striker Chido Obi received a difficult pass to deal with during a rondo game in the session, Rasmus Hojlund pounced on him and went in for the kill.

Hojlund might have fancied his chances of laying down a marker on a teenage striker trying to compete for his place, but Obi pulled off an audacious backheel flick to send the ball through Hojlund's legs and keep the run of passes going.

It was a moment of high skill and was loved by the players in that group. Hojlund saw the funny side. It was also a reminder that Obi, for all that he has struggled in his first-team appearances so far, has plenty of talent.

Yoro clues

The absence of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt from the training session was a blow for United, but Yoro was seen heading into the Carrington gym as we left the training centre.

The 19-year-old limped out of the defeat to West Ham on Sunday with a foot injury and has to now be considered a doubt to make the final next week.

But the fact he was at the training ground and doing work in the gym is encouraging and raises the possibility that, with a week to go, he could yet win a fitness battle to feature in Bilbao.

Injury boosts

It was the players who weren't involved that garnered the most attention, but Jonny Evans and Toby Collyer did take part in the training session as they return to fitness.

Evans hasn't started for United since Amorim's first game in charge at Ipswich and at best he will be looking for a place on the bench next week as his Old Trafford career enters its final few weeks.

Collyer was making an impression on Amorim before his injury but the Europa League team is settled and there is no chance the youngster can break into it. Again, a place on a 12-man bench is his best hope.

Amad brings the fun

You only have to browse through Amad's social media activity to see he likes to have fun and it turns out he is exactly the same during training as well.

His energy was infectious during the training games and at one point he crossed his hands with his knees and started dancing to celebrate a move in a rondo.

He was a bubbly figure throughout and is clearly already a valuable presence in the dressing room.

Chelsea clues

It was a larger than usual group for the training session, with more than 30 players involved, and it showed Amorim was trying to manage plans for Chelsea as well as Tottenham.

There were roles for young defenders Jaydan Kamason, James Overy, Godwill Kukonki, Tyler Fredricson, Sam Murray, Daniel Armer and Harry Amass. Fredricson and Amass are regulars in the first-team group now but amid a defensive injury crisis some of the others might fancy their chances of being involved at Stamford Bridge.

James Scanlon, Sekou Kone, Jim Thwaites, Jack Fletcher and Victor Musa also took part in the session, as did Ethan Wheatley, who has been on loan at League Two Walsall since January but has become a peripheral figure at the Bescot Stadium.
