'I loved'– Bayern Munich legend in awe at Man Utd attacker's'unbelievable qualities,'his'speed and technical things'blow him away

Bastian Schweinsteiger has dropped huge praise on one Manchester United ace and admitted that he could “immediately see the talent” of the player at Old Trafford.

The 40-year-old German former midfielder called it time on his legendary playing career back in 2019 after a brief spell with MLS outfit Chicago Fire.

Bastian Schweinsteiger signed for Chicago Fire in 2017 after he fell down the pecking order under former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

The former United star first arrived at Old Trafford in 2015 after the Red Devils signed Schweinsteiger for a reported £14.4m transfer fee from Bayern Munich.

Schweinsteiger was reunited with Louis van Gaal at the Premier League club, having previously played under the Dutchman at German outfit Bayern Munich.

The Bayern legend played 35 times for the Red Devils and Schweinsteiger scored twice and picked up two assists during his time at Old Trafford.

Schweinsteiger lifted the FA Cup trophy under Louis van Gaal before the former United manager was sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho at the club in 2016.

Bastian Schweinsteiger speaks out on Marcus Rashford’s emergence at Old Trafford under ex-Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal

Marcus Rashford rose through the ranks of the Manchester United youth academy before the Aston Villa player broke into the Red Devils first team at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old received his United debut under Louis van Gaal and Marcus Rashford made a memorable impact with his performance against FC Midtjylland.

Rashford, who is on loan at Aston Villa, scored a brace for United on his first-team debut and the Red Devils sealed a 5-1 comeback win in the Europa League in 2016.

Schweinsteiger shared the pitch with the United talent and the 2014 World Cup winner recalled Rashford’s emergence at Old Trafford during his spell at the club.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “Well, I remember him quite well when Louis van Gaal brought him and Jesse Lingard to the first team, and like you could immediately see the talent he’s got, the cheekiness as well, I must say, speed and technical things.

“It’s sad that he couldn’t contribute more to United and also England, because maybe he needed just like the right players around him, people around him, to make it easier for him as well.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger’s verdict on Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa after his Man Utd exit

United player Marcus Rashford, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, has been on loan at Aston Villa since February after his exit from Old Trafford.

The England international fell down the pecking order Ruben Amorim and Rashford has been able to revive his form away from United during his stay at Villa Park.

Schweinsteiger hailed Rashford’s ability as a player and he is thrilled that the United attacker is now playing regular football again at Villa in the 2024-25 campaign.

“I loved playing with him,” he continued.

“I could see his unbelievable qualities. And I’m happy now to see him actually at Villa that he is like showing it again, and that’s nice to see.

“Wish him all the best.”

Rashford has scored four times and picked up six assists in 17 matches across all competitions for Villa since the start of his loan spell.

Villa did not have to pay the Red Devils a loan fee for the transfer and the Premier League club are reportedly covering Rashford’s mammoth United wages.

Rashford has become a key player for Unai Emery’s men and Villa have the option to make the United star’s move to Villa Park permanent for a £40m transfer fee.
