The Premier League has confirmed the dates ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, revealing major changes.

The league has announced the window will initially open for business on Sunday, June 1, before closing again on Tuesday, June 10.

The window will open earlier than usual due to an exceptional registration period relating to the FIFA Club World Cup taking place this summer.

After closing at 7pm on June 10, the window will reopen for a second time on Monday, June 16, and remain open until the bell sounds at 7pm on Monday, September 1.

Manchester City are participating in the Club World Cup, which starts on Sunday, June 15, meaning they will have a period of opportunity to strengthen their squad ahead of the new-look tournament taking place in the United States.

Outgoings are also expected to be a regular theme throughout the summer at the Etihad Stadium and one of the first departures of the summer could see midfielder Maximo Perrone join Como on a permanent deal.

The Manchester Evening News understands the 22-year-old, who has spent this season on loan at the Italian club, is set to make the permanent switch in a deal worth more than £25million.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are poised for a big summer of transfer activity amid the many improvements that need to made to Ruben Amorim's squad.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News on Wednesday, United are targeting at least three priority signings this summer. They plan to strengthen their attack as their leading objective and have identified Wolves ace Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap of Ipswich Town as top targets.

Elsewhere, the EFL has confirmed clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two will follow the same format when conducting their summer business.

As well as the window being opened and temporarily closed, the other big change will see clubs forced into completing their deadline day business by 7pm, opposed to the traditional time of 11pm.
