Bank Holidays are always are busy time for Liverpool city centre but next bank holiday will be unlike any other. Liverpool will celebrate their Premier League win with hundreds of thousands of fans.
Liverpool Football Club will mark its 20th league title with the citywide victory parade on May 26. The 15km route will last for up to five hours and allow fans to gather at many parts across the city. The bus will begin its journey at Allerton Maze at 2.30pm before it make its way into Liverpool city centre where most fans will gather.
As the parade is expected to attract a huge number of people into the city, as well as locals, there will be some road closures people should be aware of ahead of the major celebration
The Strand will be closed northbound from the Upper Parliament Street/Great George Street junction to Leeds Street/Great Howard Street junction from 04.00 – 22.00, or until it is safe to re-open.
The southbound lane will be closed from approx. 12.00 – 20.00, again subject to crowd safety requirements. Additionally, Leeds Street City bound will be closed from 12.00 until approx. 20.00.
Liverpool City Council strongly advise people do not drive – particularly into the city centre. They have asked fans to either walk and try and view the parade as close to home as possible.
If you are planning on going to the parade, there are some rules that have been laid out by the council. The use of flares, pyrotechnics, or anything similar is strictly prohibited. The use of pyrotechnics poses risk of injury to fellow fans and serious health risks.
No drones are allowed on the parade route and any unauthorised drones will be removed. Fans of the Reds are being urged to plan your journey in advance and if you are using public transport, check the latest timetables and allow more time.
