Diego Simeone’s message about Wolves transfer target will be music to Strand Larsen’s ears -…

Vitor Pereira might be alerted to Diego Simeone’s latest comments about one rumoured transfer target at Wolves.

With two games of the 2024/25 calendar remaining, attention will soon turn to the summer transfer window.

For some, the transfer market is already the focus, as Matheus Cunha wants to secure a move before the season ends.

Cunha looks set to join Manchester United, giving Wolves a motive to replenish sufficiently in the summer to fill the void left by the Brazilian.

Diego Simeone said Wolves target Alexander Sorloth is most effective off the bench

Though it’s been proven that Wolves can cope just fine without Cunha, replacing the goalscoring maverick will be difficult.

As a result, work seems to already be underway to bolster Pereira’s front line in preparation for the 25-year-old’s exit.

One player linked to Wolves is Alexander Sorloth of Atletico Madrid, an out-and-out number nine who is impressing in Spain after a failed stint at Crystal Palace.

In his last outing for Atletico, Sorloth made La Liga history by scoring the fastest hat-trick ever, netting three in the opening 11 minutes against Real Sociedad.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

After the game, manager Diego Simeone had a lot to say about his striker, and one part in particular may stand out to Pereira.

“He had a fantastic night, especially those first 45 minutes, where he decisively finished every ball that came his way,” Simeone said in his post-match press conference.

What came next could be conveyed as a message to Wolves amid their interest, as the Argentine coach gave Pereira a suggestion on how to best utilise the Norwegian.

“If we go by the numbers, he’s scored more goals coming on in the second half – except for today, obviously.”

Simeone noted that Sorloth is most impactful when coming off the bench as a substitute, which will be music to one member of the Wolves squad’s ears.

Simeone’s verdict on Sorloth is a relief for Jorgen Strand Larsen

One player already at Molineux knows Sorloth better than most, and that is his countryman, Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Though Wolves’ number nine would presumably love the idea of welcoming his national teammate to Molineux, there could be concern over whether the 29-year-old would impact his claim to the starting XI.

Simeone’s admission gave an insight into what the future could hold for Strand Larsen if Sorloth were to arrive, insisting that the former Palace dud is a strong option on the bench.

Strand Larsen has been impressive in his debut season in the Premier League, netting 13 goals, which is 13 more than Sorloth managed in the division.

Though the Atletico Madrid striker would bring with him a strong scoring record from La Liga, having found the net 17 times so far this term, there’s nothing to say that he’d leapfrog Strand Larsen in the pecking order.

Having two reliable scorers would be a huge leap forward for Wolves, who have been reminded of their lack of squad depth for several years now.
