Norwich City will sign Manchester City midfielder Jacob Wright on a permanent basis for £2.3m, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.
Norwich City look to be getting some early summer business in place as they plot a much-improved 2025/26 season. NCFC fell to 13th and have opted for change in the dugout, relieving Johannes Hoff Thorup of his duties.
While the search for a new boss takes place though, the Canaries confirmed talks are ongoing to sign Manchester City loanee Jacob Wright on a permanent basis.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a move is on the cards.
It was initially reported that the deal Norwich City agreed with Manchester City included the optional fee of £5m at the end of the loan period. However, claims over that fee were refuted and Romano has provided extra details.
NCFC have agreed to sign Wright for £2.3m, earning the right to sign him permanently after a clause was triggered when he hit nine starts for the club.
Wright’s short time at Norwich City to date
Across his 15 appearances for Norwich City, Wright created 20 chances, helping him claim four assists.
In addition, his tackle success rate sitting at an impressive 74% shows he is ready and able to switch attack into defence to control possession for his team. NCFC have been able to deploy Wright in his preferred position in defensive midfield, but whether that has been in a midfield two or three, the youngster has shown his class and become a quick favourite at the club.

Wright has been a gem in the midfield but at only 19 years old, Norwich did take a bit of a gamble on the young midfielder. Yet, it is one that has proven beneficial early on. He is a player who likes to hold the ball and carry with meaningful runs into attacking areas, though he doesn’t shirk his defensive duties either.
A good start to summer business
The move for Wright marks very promising start to a crucial summer transfer window for Norwich City.
NCFC enter the summer on the back of another disappointing Championship season, with the expectation being that they can compete at the top end of the division again sooner rather than later.

A solid start to the summer window could just be what the Canaries need to push back to the Premier League. Assuming Wright will pen a long-term deal, he could certainly be a player they could build their squad around as a mainstay in their set up for the future.
