Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe may turn his attentions towards attempting to strike a cut-price deal for Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic if Alexander Isak ends up leaving St James' Park during the fast-approaching summer transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.
The Magpies are on course to see Callum Wilson head through the exit door as a free agent in the coming weeks, due to his £46,000-per-week contract being set to expire at the end of June, and that has resulted in there being a desire to secure further firepower ahead of a season which could see them return to the Champions League.
Howe is preparing to profit from a £20million cash injection as Serie A heavyweights Juventus have an obligation to buy Lloyd Kelly at the end of his initial loan deal, which will come as a boost for Newcastle, and the tactician is considering putting those funds towards bringing in another centre forward as preparations are made for the 2025/26 campaign.

Newcastle could sign Vlahovic as a replacement for Isak in the summer, according to GMS sources, after it has become clear that Juventus are prepared to lower their demands to in the region of £20million due to being desperate to find a buyer when the transfer window reopens for business.
The Magpies have been put on red alert as the striker is poised to enter the final 12 months of a contract which allows him to pocket close to £320,000-per-week, resulting in there being confidence that cut-price offers will be entertained thanks to his current employers' desire to avoid the possibility of him leaving as a free agent at the end of next term.
GMS sources have been informed that Vlahovic wants to test himself in the Premier League for the first time in his career and, having got his name on the scoresheet 14 times in all competitions this season, Newcastle may be tempted to offer a route out of Juventus if they are unable to hold onto Isak.
Dusan Vlahovic's statistics for Juventus this season
Although the 25-year-old Serbia international has been described as 'world-class' by Bologna head coach Vincenzo Italiano, his contract situation could lead to Howe being presented with a golden opportunity to pounce as he aims to build on a campaign which has seen his side win the Carabao Cup and move to within touching distance of a Champions League spot.
Juventus would ideally like to recoup £35million for Vlahovic, GMS sources have learned, but the Serie A giants have accepted that there is an increasing possibility that they will have to listen to proposals at a fraction of the price due to Newcastle and other interested parties looking to take advantage of their desperation to offload him.

GMS sources have been told that Vlahovic will be on the move during the summer and, ahead of being touted around clubs in the final weeks of the campaign, Newcastle could face competition from the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United if Manchester United win the race for Liam Delap.
The Ipswich marksman has a £30million release clause that is due to become active thanks to his current employers' relegation to the Championship, but Juventus' decision to entertain bids for less than that figure will catch the eye of the Magpies' domestic counterparts as preparations are made for next season.
Chelsea and Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Vlahovic's situation for a prolonged period, GMS sources understand, while West Ham are in the market for two frontmen and Turkish side Galatasaray are contemplating whether to sign him as a replacement for Victor Osimhen when he returns to parent club Napoli following a productive loan spell.
