Liverpool have made contact with Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz about a summer transfer, according to David Ornstein.
The Reds have just clinched their 20th English league title and their second Premier League title in five years, as Arne Slot's side turned in a phenomenal campaign during the manager's first season in charge.
Now the team are looking to bolster their options ahead of the new season, and Wirtz is being eyed as a potential answer to add more creativity to the squad.

Wirtz, who has been described as "the best midfielder in the world" and a "superstar" for his incredible performances in recent seasons, is expected to be one of the most sought-after players on the market this summer.
Bayern Munich and Manchester City are also in the race for the German international's signature, but currently it is unclear if he will leave Leverkusen. If he does, there is no guarantee he will leave the Bundesliga either.
But David Ornstein has now reported that Liverpool have made their move to convince the 22-year-old that Anfield would be the best destination for him, and have declared their interest to his camp should he opt to make the switch.
Leverkusen do not want to sell but would respect the player's wishes if their demands are met, with reports in Germany suggesting that any transfer fee could go as high as £126m - which would be a club record for all the clubs involved.
Wirtz scored 11 goals and registered 11 assists in 2023/24 as Leverkusen won the Bundesliga unbeaten under Xabi Alonso, before scoring ten times and registering 12 assists this season.
