Egor Demin NBA Mock Draft Tracker: Where Will Former BYU Star Go?

BYU has not had a player drafted into the NBA since Jimmer Fredette in 2011. In fact, only four BYU alums have been drafted this millennium (Trent Plaisted, Rafael Araújo, Travis Hansen).

The Cougars have seven first round picks in their history, but only four of them came after 1968.

That is likely set to change when the 2025 NBA Draft occurs late next month.

When Egor Demin came to BYU by way of Real Madrid, it was the signature moment of the first year of Kevin Young at the helm in Provo. He was considered a five-star recruit who had high NBA prospects.

He chose BYU to work with Young and prepare for the NBA Draft. That day is now nearly here. Where will Demin get selected in the upcoming draft?

Let’s take a look at a few mock drafts from around the league with several experts weighing in.

Houston Rockets, No. 10 (CBS)

The highest Demin has gone in any major mock draft is 10, to the Rockets. He would join the talented group of Jalen Green, Alperen Şengün and Fred VanVleet (if they bring him back).

Chicago Bulls, No. 12 (ESPN)

The Bulls need a spark. They have now gone three seasons with a losing record and without a playoff appearance. Perhaps Demin could help get the team younger and more athletic.

San Antonio Spurs, No. 14 (Yahoo! andNBC Sports)

Two different sources have Demin mocked to the Spurs. That franchise is underdoing a major change with legendary coach stepping down and taking on a new role with the franchise. How cool would it be for Demin to play alongside Victor Wembanyama?

Orlando Magic, No. 16 (Tankathon)

The Magic have made the playoffs two years in a row but have been bounced early both times. Perhaps they could use a creator on offense like Demin appeared to be at BYU.

Washington Wizards, No. 18 (Bleacher Report)

Demin is a dynamic ball-handler who is also 6-foot-9. Any team would want that. If he falls to 18, the Wizards likely pounce on the best player available.

Clearly, Demin is considered solidly a mid-first round pick. The NBA Draft Combine for 2025 is underway in Chicago.
