Dejan Kulusevski undergoes knee surgery as Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham suffer major Europa League final blow
Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a massive blow just a week before the UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United in Spain.
Dejan Kulusevski was forced off inside 15 minutes in Spurs’ 2-0 Premier League loss to London rivals Crystal Palace at home on Sunday. He subsequently missed the training on Monday, but Ange Postecoglou was hopeful it was just a mere knock.
The creative midfielder was once again missing from Hotspur Way on Wednesday, as Ange Postecoglou conducted training, and now there’s been a major development that could massively affect Tottenham’s preparations for the Europa League final.

Tottenham Hotspur will be without Dejan Kulusevski for the Europa League final vs Man United
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Dejan Kulusevski will miss the European final against Manchester United on May 21 after undergoing a knee surgery.
The Swede suffered an injury to his right knee against Crystal Palace. This news comes as a massive setback to Postecoglou as he initially wasn’t too concerned about the 25-year-old’s fitness issue after being substituted early on Sunday. The Australian tactician has had to deal with several injury concerns in his second season at N17, which has been among the prime reasons for Spurs’ wretched domestic campaign.
Ange is already without Lucas Bergvall, who hurt his ankle ligaments during the final training session ahead of the semi-final first leg against Bodo/Glimt. Influential midfielder James Maddison will also miss the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury, ruling him out for up to several months. Now, Kulusevski has also been added to the list of casualties just before the club’s most important game of the season.

Following a triple injury setback, Tottenham’s midfield unit has been decimated with Ange now having limited options to pick his team for the league game against Aston Villa on Friday evening and then in the European final next week. Young Archie Gray may get a chance to feature in midfield in the upcoming games, as Ange faces some tough decisions.

The North Londoners can put their miserable league campaign behind them if they can taste success in Europe. Should they lift the Europa League, Champions League football will be in the bag for next season and that will allow the Hotspur Way bosses to attract talents. But, without it, the club will struggle to bring in quality players, and instead, it would open the door for several key players to depart.
That said, the latest injury blow to Kulusevski has lowered Tottenham’s chances of beating Ruben Amorim’s side at the San Mames Stadium in Spain.
