Newcastle United could make a move for Atletico Madrid star Alexander Sorloth in the coming weeks, according to reports - with the Norwegian keen on starting minutes after finding himself on the bench too often in the Spanish capital. 56 goals across just 133 appearances in La Liga for Villarreal, Real Sociedad and Atletico means he's been one of the most prolific scorers in the division in that time - but Newcastle could take advantage of his demands.
The report by Fichajes states that Newcastle are already planning for next season, and they've set their sights on Atletico Madrid man Sorloth as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak, should the Swede depart the club in the coming months.

The Magpies have also considered pairing two forwards together, in what would be a change of formation for Eddie Howe - essentially with the aim of forming a high-level attacking partnership. But with the uncertainty surrounding Isak, Sorloth's name has 'gained momentum' as a result of his strong La Liga performances, with the fellow Scandinavian star having been decisive every time he's had minutes in the top-flight.

Despite being Atletico's top scorer in the division, Sorloth has still only started 13 games, registering 17 goals in the process - and Saturday's four-goal haul against Real Sociedad has proven that although he's the man for the club to succeed, he won't garner first-team minutes behind Julian Alvarez and Antoine Griezmann, despite being labelled as a 'powerhouse' and having 'terrorised defences'.
That has opened the door to a potential exit, with the Magpies believing that Sorloth can 'adapt' to the pace of the Premier League, providing an immediate solution as both a starter and as a rotation option for Howe. His strength, dominating 6ft 5in height and presence in the area could be just the remedy for the Premier League.
Despite Turkish club Besiktas closely monitoring his situation, Newcastle's ambitions to return to the Champions League could be a huge factor in attracting Sorloth to the club - and Atletico could be prompted to sell if the Tyneside outfit bid a fee that they can't turn down.
Sorloth has already had a run out in the Premier League at Crystal Palace, featuring in 16 top-flight games for the Eagles - but he failed to score, only putting the ball in the net once for the club in a League Cup clash vs Swansea City - and having failed to find himself a permanent home, it's his recent form in Spain in recent seasons that has piqued interest.
