Florian Wirtz Bayer Leverkusen
Bay Arena Bayer Leverkusen
Bayern Munich are supposedly the frontrunners to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen but with each passing day, this transfer race is becoming very interesting.
Despite Manchester City’s interest in the attacking midfielder, Bayern have been confident of signing Florian Wirtz but according to the latest report by Bild, Wirtz’s family has met Liverpool on Wednesday as the Premier League champions have also registered an interest.
This is great news for all the Liverpool fans but at the same time, Manchester City and Bayern Munich will be under massive pressure. The way Liverpool are performing under Arne Slot, any young and promising talent would love to work with him next season.
Leverkusen are reluctant to sell Florian Wirtz and are already trying to make him sign an extension until 2028. However, they have also set a price tag of €150 million on the attacking midfielder which means the player will be available for sale in the summer – for the right price.
Will Florian Wirtz remain in Germany or opt for a move to the EPL?
According to multiple sources, Real Madrid is actually the midfielder’s dream move but there’s a very slim chance that Los Blancos are going to spend €150 million on a number ten in the summer.
His next preferred destination is Bayern Munich, primarily because he’s spent his whole career in Germany and he would love to remain in the Bundesliga.
However, the €150 million price tag is something that’s troubling the Bayern management and that’s probably why Florian Wirtz is keeping his options open.
Manchester City and even Liverpool can very easily spend that kind of money and they won’t even mind paying the midfielder a lucrative salary package. At Man City, the 22-year-old can be the long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne and at Liverpool, he can replace Szoboszlai within a couple of matchweeks.
Getting game time at either of the two Premier League clubs won’t be a problem for Florian Wirtz but we are still confident that the German international is going to wait for Bayern to make up their mind. Only when the Bavarians decide to formally back out will Wirtz consider a move to the Premier League.
