Sources: Newcastle refusing to sell "outstanding" £40m star alongside Isak

Newcastle United are adamant that they will not cash in on Tino Livramento even though Premier League rivals Manchester City are showing interest in luring him away from St James' Park during the fast-approaching summer transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Fears of breaching spending rules resulted in the Magpies sanctioning the departures of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh for a combined total of £65million less than 12 months ago, with the pair joining Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively, but head coach Eddie Howe is determined to keep key men on board.

Although Lloyd Kelly is poised to complete a permanent move to Juventus, thanks to the Serie A heavyweights having an obligation to buy the central defender for £20million after an initial loan spell in Turin, Newcastle have no desire to offload Livramento or Isak ahead of a season where they could be competing in the Champions League.

Newcastle are refusing to sell Livramento this summer, according to GMS sources, and influential figures behind the scenes remain confident that they will succeed in keeping him on Tyneside heading into next season despite domestic counterparts Manchester City circling as they make plans to upgrade their squad.

The right-back has been on the Magpies' books since sealing a £40million switch from Southampton in August 2023 and, having made himself one of the first names on the team sheet when fully fit, Howe is eager to resist the temptation of pocketing a lucrative fee if the opportunity arises when the transfer window reopens for business.

GMS sources have been informed that Newcastle have no appetite to enter negotiations with Manchester City over Livramento, who has made 36 starts in all competitions this season, and they are in a stronger position than this time last year as there are no fears of falling on the wrong side of the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

The one-cap England international still has three years remaining on his £50,000-per-week contract, which will complicate matters for Sky Blues boss Pep Guardiola as he goes in search of finding a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker, and he is not preparing to agitate for a fresh challenge.

Newcastle are adopting a strong stance over Livramento and fellow St James' Park fan favourite Isak because they do not need the money, GMS sources have learned, and it could result in Manchester City being forced to look in an alternative direction as they aim to bolster their full-back options.

GMS sources have been told that Newcastle are refusing to rule out the possibility of allowing Kieran Trippier to head through the exit door in the summer, resulting in Howe being even more eager to hold onto Livramento as he has been seen as the long-term successor to the one-time La Liga title-winner on the right-hand side of the backline.

The 22-year-old has been described as 'outstanding' by Magpies icon Alan Shearer and, having already proven that he is capable of holding his own as a regular starter in the Premier League, is on course to remain at St James' Park instead of being given the green-light to move onto pastures new.

Livramento has remained on Manchester City's shortlist even though they have accepted that they are facing an uphill battle to convince Newcastle to listen to offers, GMS sources understand, while Juventus duo Andrea Cambiaso and Nicolo Savona have been identified as alternative Etihad Stadium targets.

Although GMS sources recently revealed that the Magpies could enter negotiations for Monaco defender Wilfried Singo after scouts have been impressed, Howe is determined to keep key members of his squad on Tyneside as he aims to build on winning the Carabao Cup and moving to within touching distance of Champions League qualification.
