As the 2025 NBA Lottery took place on May 12, there was a wild outcome that took place for each of the teams that had a chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick.
The NBA community and insiders believe that Duke forward Cooper Flagg will be selected with the No. 1 pick.

When the Dallas Mavericks were heading into the lottery on Monday, they had just a 1.8% chance of landing the first overall selection, and with those odds, they were able to get drawn as the team that holds the top pick.
With this being said, Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison will be getting a little less heat after trading away their star guard Luka Doncic in February.

As Dallas' front office shifts towards a new season, there could be a chance that the Mavericks use the No. 1 pick and pursue a point guard, according to Senior NBA insider Shams Charania.
"I'm told the Mavericks will be pursuing a point guard, whether that's in the trade market, in free agency. That's a big priority for them," Charania said on Wednesday.
Dallas will be playing without their starting point guard Kyrie Irving for a large majority of next season.
Back on March 3, during a game against the Sacramento Kings, Irving went down with a torn ACL that cost him the rest of the 2024-25 season.
"He's targeting sometime in January to make his return," Charania continued.

With the NBA Draft taking place in late June, some big moves could be taking place for Dallas in the coming months.
It will be interesting to see whether Nico Harrison and team owners Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont trade the No. 1 pick or use it to select top prospect Cooper Flagg.
