There will be a particular focus on adding depth and quality to a position that has troubled Madrid all season.
Madrid’s centre-back options have been hit by repeated injury setbacks.
Both Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao have spent large portions of the campaign on the sidelines.
That lack of depth has frustrated senior figures at the club, and Alonso is intent on fixing the issue as part of his tactical vision.
One target who has been a long-term target for Manchester United, may be on their way to Real Madrid after all.
Real Madrid send formal contract to Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen
Real Madrid have now stepped up their pursuit of long-term Manchester United target Dean Huijsen.
Fabrizio Romano on X has reported that the Spanish giants have sent a formal contract proposal to the young centre-back and his representatives today.
Talks are ongoing, with negotiations now focused on structure and personal terms, though Huijsen remains committed to joining Real, having made that clear during a key meeting on Monday.
Manchester United have been monitoring Huijsen for several months.
The 20-year-old is seen as a player of huge potential capable of reinforcing a backline with composure and well-rounded ability on and off the ball.

However, Real Madrid are now in pole position.
The ball is in the player’s court after receiving the contract proposal.
Discussions are progressing positively, with Real also speaking to Bournemouth about the £50 million release clause, working on structured payments and instalments to complete the deal.
According to Romano, while Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool remain attentive and ready to join the race if talks break down, Madrid remain the player’s top priority.
With United yet to make an official move and Real in direct contact with both the player and his club, the Red Devils face the growing reality of missing out on one of Europe’s most coveted young defenders unless their stance changes swiftly.
