Immediate Reaction: Real Madrid 2-1 Rcd Mallorca

[**Real Madrid 2-1 RCD Mallorca**](https://www.managingmadrid.com/) _(Mbappé & Ramón). Castilla save the day._ Here is the immediate reaction to the late win. Up next: Player ratings, pressers and the podcast.

The season was over, and after this round of games in La Liga - it would more than likely be mathematically done for Real Madrid. Knowing this, and with a number of injuries to deal with - Carlo’s entire bench was made up of Castilla players (other than Jesús Vallejo). Two Castilla players started, with Raúl Asencio and Jacobo Ramón both chosen in centre-back. The rest of the team was mostly change as well, with the likes of Endrick and Arda Güler getting the nod. Luka Modrić captained the team.

The first half did not go well. Early Real Madrid chances meant nothing when Mallorca took the lead eleven minutes in. Madrid would see all of the remaining chances of the half fall their way, but none of Jude Bellingham, Luka Modrić, Kylian Mbappé or Fede Valverde could equalise before half-time. 0-1 at the interval.

Real Madrid hadn’t completely given up, as Luka Modrić got things going for them with another good effort just after the restart. It was Kylian Mbappé who would save the team of course, netting his 40th goal of the season to make it 1-1. Mallorca then almost struck again, but Thibaut Courtois made a superb save to avoid another shock. Arda Güler came close to giving Los Blancos a lead, as did Jude Bellingham - but the hero of the day would come from an unlikely source. Jacobo Ramón has been superb for Castilla since returning from a lengthy injury - and scoring the winning goal here was the least he deserved for all of his progress. 2-1 Real Madrid at full-time. Happier with this result?
