Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford reportedly prefers to stay at Aston Villa over moving to a club abroad this summer.

The 27-year-old was largely overlooked at Old Trafford under Reds boss Ruben Amorim, who left him out of nearly all matchday squads following his last appearance on December 12, until he was loaned out to Aston Villa in February. Since moving to Birmingham, Rashford has become a key player for Villa under Unai Emery - contributing four goals and six assists. His campaign was cut short, however, due to a muscle injury.

The United academy graduate's improved form played a crucial role in Villa's journey to the Champions League quarter-finals, where they were ultimately beaten by PSG over two legs. Rashford's standout performances earned him a place in the most recent England squad selected by Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel.

The Manchester Evening News understands that Rashford will wait until the summer to decide on his future. Villa have an option to purchase him for £40million.

Our colleagues at The Express claim that his preference is to remain at Villa Park and that any chance of a return to Old Trafford is unlikely.

Amorim has previously stated that Rashford was unable to adapt to the way he wanted to play and train at M16.

“I couldn’t put Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,” he said earlier this season.

“And sometimes you have one player that is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different.

“I just wish the best to Rashford and to Unai Emery, and they can connect because he’s a very good player.”
