While eight teams are still fighting for a championship in the NBA playoffs, the other 22 teams are now preparing for a crucial offseason.
One of those teams is the Phoenix Suns who are coming off a terrible season that saw them miss the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
Of course, the Suns were expected to be a playoff team due to their star trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, along with having the NBA’s highest payroll.
Instead, Phoenix finished 11th in the conference with an abysmal 36-46 record, missing the Play-In Tournament by three games behind the Dallas Mavericks.

Due to their disappointing season, the Suns are expected to make some major changes in the offseason to their roster which likely includes them moving on from Durant and Beal.
Durant now becomes one of the top targets on the trade market this summer but he also has competition with Giannis Antetokounmpo possibly being on his way out from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Because of this, one of the potential landing spots for Durant reportedly has concerns about adding the future Hall of Famer according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Kely Iko.
“While Durant is widely seen as the most attainable of that group, and he is known to be very interested in playing in Houston, team sources said the Rockets still have significant reservations about that possible partnership, in large part, because Durant’s age (36) would be so out of sync with their younger timeline,” Amick and Iko wrote.
Of course, the Houston Rockets have emerged as one of the favorites to land Durant this offseason but with his age, they may instead look elsewhere to add a star player next to their young core.

If that ends up being the case, Durant’s list of trade suitors would take a hit and it could continue to take hits with the amount of talent on the trade block this offseason along with the stacked 2025 draft class.
