Jonathan Kuminga, Warriors Potential Offseason Saga Gets Update on Wednesday

The season could soon be coming to a close for the Golden State Warriors.

The club is in Minneapolis for a Game 5 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, with the Warriors trailing the series 3-1.

There's an internal hope that Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green can keep the team alive and force a Game 6 with a major win, though it'll be quite difficult.

There hasn't been much of an offensive flow or rhythm since Stephen Curry went down with an injury in Game 1 of the second-round series.

With the two veteran stars leading the way in Curry's absence, the Warriors are also hopeful young players like Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga will step up.

Since Butler's arrival at the trade deadline, Podziemski has found a new stride -- for the better -- though that hasn't been the case for Kuminga.

The former lottery pick has even been benched recently, with his future in the Bay Area looking bleak.

Despite the uncertainty around Kuminga's future within the Warriors' organization, they need him to step up in Game 5.

On Wednesday, ahead of the game, San Francisco Standard's Tim Kawakami gave an updated report of Kuminga's future with the club.

"There is a chance [Kuminga] is with the Warriors next season...But likeliest is that he will be gone, on another team in the offseason...The money is the problem. Can they do something better with that money?" Kawakami told 95.7 The Game.

Kuminga's game hasn't been great since returning from injury late in the regular season. Trying to get back to form while adjusting to the new-look squad with Butler posed quite a challenge for the 22-year-old forward.

Still, it seems he will be on his way out this summer -- with a small chance of him remaining on the squad.

With potential elimination from the postseason on the horizon, the Kuminga debacle will reach the spotlight as Golden State will have key roster decisions to make.
