Raul Asencio Could Face Trial Over Alleged Sex Tape Involving Minor

Raul Asencio may face criminal charges following allegations he was involved in recording and distributing a sex video involving a minor.

A court in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, located in Gran Canaria, announced on Wednesday that the investigation into the matter has concluded, with the case now moving forward toward potential prosecution. Asencio, along with three other footballers — Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García — is accused of filming and sharing explicit content involving a minor and another woman.

The alleged incident took place in 2023 at a beach club in the southern part of the island. While Ruiz, Rodríguez, and García were arrested in September of that year, Asencio initially gave testimony as a witness. He was later named as a suspect after further investigation by Spain’s Civil Guard.

[Real Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com) acknowledged the situation at the time, stating that one Castilla player and three Real Madrid C players had provided statements to law enforcement in connection to a complaint regarding a private video shared via WhatsApp. The club added that it would take appropriate action once it had full details.

In February, a Spanish court denied Asencio’s request to dismiss the case. Legal documents from that appeal confirmed one of the individuals involved was under the age of 16 at the time of the recording.

The court’s statement this week outlines possible violations under Spain’s criminal code, including unauthorized recording and distribution of private sexual content (Article 197.1 and 197.3), as well as the alleged use of a minor for pornographic purposes (Article 197.4). The case now goes to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will decide whether to press charges and proceed to trial or drop the case — a decision that can be contested on appeal.
