Alexander Sorloth
Newcastle United have been linked with Atletico Madrid's Alexander Sorloth
All focus at Newcastle United is on the club's quest to bring Champions League football back to Tyneside next season.
The Magpies have two games remaining and know four points will guarantee their spot in Europe's prestigious competition. After beating Chelsea 2-0 on Sunday, Eddie Howe's men have placed themselves in a fantastic position.
And yet despite this, the transfer rumour mill is intensifying ahead of a huge transfer window. The outcome of the final fortnight of the 2024/25 season will have major repercussions on what the club can do in the market.
Here is the latest transfer news including a decision on one key player and a potential new striker coming in...
Isak competition eyed
Newcastle currently possess one of the best strikers in the Premier League in Alexander Isak but according to reports, another prolific centre-forward is being eyed ahead of the summer.
Atletico Madrid's Alexander Sorloth is on their radar after scoring 56 goals in 133 appearances across three different teams in Spain. Fichajes have claimed that the Magpies are looking to bring the Norway international in, to either replace Isak if he is sold or rival him.
Callum Wilson is currently the understudy to Isak but the 32-year-old has missed a large portion of the season due to different injuries.
CHRON says: "Newcastle are desperate for a striker with world-class quality behind Isak. Wilson has been a superb servant for the club in the last few years but should the club return to the Champions League, a player like Sorloth would be huge.
"A tall, strong striker, the former RB Leipzig man has bagged goals for fun for years. Many may not remember but he did struggle in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, but that was over five years ago. It's a signing they should be all over."
Livramento transfer decision made
Tino Livramento is not a player Newcastle are looking to sell this summer despite growing interest from Manchester City, according to reports.
GIVEMESPORT have claimed that the Magpies are adamant in keeping the attacking wing-back, who cost just £40million from Southampton in 2023. After a slow start at St. James' Park, the England international is now a regular in black and white.
The report adds that Newcastle have 'no appetite' in engaging in negotiations over any possible deal.
CHRON says: "As mentioned above, if Newcastle do make it to the Champions League, they will need quality throughout their team and Livramento is included in that.
"Since his move from Southampton, the Englishman has been superb and is so important to Howe's set-up. However, the temptation of a move to City would be enough to turn anyone.
"If the club does accept a big sale, it's hard to imagine it being Livramento this summer."
