NBA Makes Historic Anthony Edwards Announcement on Wednesday

The Minnesota Timberwolves entered Wednesday night’s Game 5 matchup against the Golden State Warriors with a commanding 3–1 series lead—just one win away from clinching a return to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season.

After a fast start that carried into the second half, the NBA made a historic announcement about Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, who has been one of the standout stars of this year’s postseason.

During the second half, with the Wolves holding a sizable double-digit lead, Edwards officially surpassed 1,000 career postseason points. He becomes just the sixth player in NBA history to reach that milestone before turning 24, joining an elite group that includes Kobe Bryant, Tony Parker, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Jayson Tatum.

The 23-year-old superstar has never lacked confidence and continues to rise to the occasion on the biggest stage. He was dominant in the first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 26.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

Edwards has carried that same momentum into the second round against Golden State, who have struggled since losing Stephen Curry in the first half of Game 1. The Warriors haven’t won a game in the series since their opening victory.

Through the first four games of the series, Edwards has posted scoring totals of 23, 20, 36, and 30 points.

Edwards has been at his best in the second half of games—but he hasn’t done it alone. Julius Randle has provided consistent and impactful play, averaging a double-double throughout the postseason for Minnesota.

The Timberwolves’ supporting cast has also stepped up in a big way, with Jaden McDaniels, Rudy Gobert, Naz Reid, Mike Conley, and Donte DiVincenzo all playing crucial roles in the team’s success.
