Man Utd included several sell-on clauses in deals to allow youngsters to leave the club.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed Manchester United are set to receive an unexpected £2 million transfer boost in the forthcoming summer window. It is set to be one of the most important transfer windows in the modern history of the club as Ruben Amorim attempts to rebuild the first-team squad amid tight financial constraints.
United have budgeted for the summer without European football and even if they win the Europa League and earn Champions League qualification, it will be a huge task to build a side capable of competing on all fronts next season. It is estimated United would earn roughly £100m if they qualify for the Champions League, a figure that would greatly enhance their summer budget.
Regardless of what happens against Tottenham Hotspur next week, United will target extensive player sales at the end of the season as they look to cut their wage bill and raise money that can be reinvested in their squad. Thankfully for Amorim, a few clever transfer decisions could give him an unexpected boost along the way.

United set for Maxi Oyedele windfall
Manchester United made have adopted a 'smarter' transfer strategy at youth level in recent years and looked to sell players who are unlikely to make it in their own first-team set-up, with staff suspecting players are going "stale and sour" if they stay at the club too long without getting an opportunity to play.
When it comes to transfer fees, United still look to get a fair price for their players where possible, but are also happy for the real value of a deal to be made up with future sell-on fees or buyback clauses. Though the initial fees might look a little underwhelming at times, it only takes one hefty transfer fee to be paid for United to land a significant windfall.
It was a similar case when Youth Cup winner Maxi Oyedele was sold to Legia Warsaw for just £500,000 last August, after he had been involved in the pre-season schedule under Erik ten Hag. United allowed the 20-year-old the chance to play regular first-team football but protected their asset by including a future sell-on clause in the deal.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims the sell-on clause is 40% of the future sale, which would see United earn £2.03m if a team activates his £5.06m release clause this summer. In a social media post on X, Romano wrote: "Maxi Oyedele will not join Shakhtar Donetsk despite approaches as there are more European clubs keen on signing former Man Utd player. Understand #MUFC will receive 40% of the future sale for €6m release clause available this summer included into his Legia Warsaw deal."
Bruno Fernandes 'shocked' by Oyedele sale
Last year, Legia Warsaw coach Goncalo Feio claimed Bruno Fernandes was 'shocked' at Manchester United's decision to sell Maxi Oyedele before he had been given a chance in the first team.
“After the match with Gornik I said that we were dealing with a player who would sooner or later end up in the Polish national team," he said. “I didn’t know that he would be called up to the national team two days later. The quality on the ball, the personality, the character to keep the ball, the choices, when to lead, play with one touch, change the centre…
“It is no coincidence that Bruno Fernandes, when we spoke to him, said he was shocked that United were letting him go, because he looked great in pre-season with Manchester. The level at which he plays is also related to the number of duels won in the central zone. His physical maturity, motor skills and ability to use his body are at a high level. Although I know that the fans and probably you, journalists, like what he does with the ball the most, Maxi gives us a very big physical presence in the midfield."
