Ryan Giggs reaffirms Rashford’s global potential despite Summer uncertainty at Old Trafford
This season has been anything but predictable for the Red Devils. Not only did they never expect to be stuck in 16th place, but they also wouldn’t have imagined being clear favourites to win the Europa League. With just a week left until the final, United are preparing for their first summer transfer window under the new regime.
Club legend Ryan Giggs recently appeared on the Webby & O’Neill show, where he discussed the club’s summer plans and named Marcus Rashford as one of four players likely to be moved on.
Ryan Giggs in the interview with Webby & O’Neill, has advised Marcus Rashford that he’s still good enough to “play for any team” in the world, even after naming him among four players who have no future at Manchester United this summer. Rashford fell out of favour with Ruben Amorim late last year and secured a loan move to Aston Villa during the January transfer window.
Since joining Villa, the England forward has rediscovered glimpses of his best form under Unai Emery, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 21 appearances. While a return to Old Trafford looks unlikely, Rashford is pushing for a move to Barcelona this summer rather than making his stay at Villa Park permanent.
United aim to cash in on Sancho, Antony, Rashford and Malacia This Summer
Manchester United are preparing for a busy summer of sales as they look to raise funds for new signings. The club is actively looking to offload Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia—currently on loan at Chelsea, Real Betis, and PSV Eindhoven, respectively. United legend Ryan Giggs, speaking on the Webby & O’Neill show, identified Marcus Rashford as another player who is likely to be moved on.
When asked whether Rashford still has the quality to play for Barcelona and thrive alongside talents like Lamine Yamal, Giggs was clear:
“Marcus can play in any team. He’s already shown the quality he has.”
With Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf, and Jonny Evans all expected to leave when their contracts expire, United are banking on sales of Rashford, Sancho, Antony, and Malacia to bring in significant funds. Giggs believes those decisions lie with manager Ruben Amorim, adding:
“I think he’s already made up his mind. It may even be out of his hands, with the club needing to sell to fund new signings.”
The United Legend speaking on speaking on the Webby & O’Neill show, believes the future of the loan players is in the hands of Amorim
” I think that’s down to Amorim.”
“I think he’s already made up his own mind and it might have even been taking out of his own hands by the power that be to bring money in to get his kind of player in.”

Although the futures of United’s loan players remain uncertain, one thing is certain – they’re all some of the best in their respective leagues and flourishing in those situations. If Ruben Amorim can figure out a way around a few hurdles to bring them back into the squad, that would be good for the players and the club. As for Rashford, his dream move to Barcelona looks closer than ever.
