Ryan Giggs has admitted that he ‘likes’ one Manchester United player at Old Trafford, despite saying that he must “improve” under manager Ruben Amorim.
Ruben Amorim’s men will return to action on Friday evening for their penultimate Premier League match of their 2024-25 campaign.
The Red Devils travel to Stamford Bridge and Manchester United will face rivals Chelsea, with the Premier League clash slated for an 8pm kick-off time in the UK.
United currently languish in 16th place in the Premier League table and Amorim’s side suffered their 17th league defeat last Sunday against West Ham.
The Red Devils hosted Graham Potter’s Hammers side at Old Trafford and West Ham beat United 2-0 to secure all three Premier League points on the weekend.
United are without a Premier League win in their last five league matches and the Red Devils are one point behind 15th-place West Ham and 17th-place Tottenham.
However, a big focus now for Amorim is United’s Europa League run and the Red Devils will meet Tottenham in an all-English final in Spain on 21st May.

Man Utd icon Ryan Giggs singles out Alejandro Garnacho’s role in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim wasted no time rolling out his blueprint and philosophy at Old Trafford after his arrival from Sporting CP in 2024.
Amorim has used his tactical system at United and the Red Devils have shifted to using a three-man backline and relying on attacking wing-backs over wingers.
The 40-year-old former Sporting CP head coach has seen a mixed set of results with his system, including Amorim facing criticism and being urged to shift his approach.
Alejandro Garnacho has remained a key first-team player at Old Trafford and the 20-year-old Spain-born attacker has continued to feature under Amorim at the club.
The United winger has been deployed as one of the two No 10s in Amorim’s system and Alejandro Garnacho has been hit or miss with his performances for the club.
Speaking on the Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel, Ryan Giggs said: “The one thing I would say is it probably doesn’t suit him [Garnacho], this system.
“But he is another who is always fit. He makes things happen, but like any young player, he has to improve.”

Ryan Giggs admits deep divide over Alejandro Garnacho’s Man Utd future amid Chelsea and Napoli transfer interest
Alejandro Garnacho has played in 56 matches across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign and the United star has scored 11 times and picked up 10 assists so far.
The Argentina international is under contract with United until 2028, but Garnacho has been linked with clubs like Chelsea and Napoli in recent months.
Speaking on the future of Garnacho at Old Trafford, Giggs said: “It splits a lot of people. I like Garnacho because he makes things happen.
“Of course, his end product has got to improve, he’s got to score more goals and he has got to have more assists.
“But in that position, and the way he plays, there are going to be dips. You look at the flair players, all brilliant players, but all have dips in their careers because they try things and when it’s not coming off, it doesn’t look great.”
United are now unable to climb back into the top half of the table and the Red Devils will end the season with their worst Premier League finish since 1992.
