Manchester City want to add two midfielders to their squad in the summer transfer window.
Manchester City have made progress with their summer transfer plans as they look to continue their rebuild under Pep Guardiola. It is understood the Blues hope to reinforce their first team squad with as many as five new arrivals after they added four signings in the January window.
City want to sign a goalkeeper, a full-back and two midfielders as they look to get back on track after a poor campaign by their lofty standards. They could yet finish the season with an FA Cup victory this weekend and Champions League qualification, but it sums up the recent success of the club that it would still feel like a season of failure.
Hugo Viana will look to hit the ground running in his first transfer window as director of football and Fabrizio Romano claims his eyes are already set on a statement signing in the summer, with a formal bid expected in the coming weeks.

Man City to bid for Tijjani Reijnders
Manchester City will look to overhaul their midfield options this summer, with club legend Kevin de Bruyne set to leave as a free agent. The Blues added Nico Gonzalez from FC Porto in the January transfer window and are now looking to add another central midfield option as well as an attacking player.
AC Milan star Tijjani Reijnders has been identified as a top target for the club and Fabrizio Romano claims they will make a bid for the 26-year-old at the end of the season. In a post on social media platform X, he wrote: "Manchester City will submit a formal, opening bid to AC Milan for Tijjani Reijnders in the upcoming weeks. Reijnders wants to focus on final games of the season with Milan and Man City respect that; then bid will follow next as he’s the main target at #8."
Manchester World understand City also have an interest in Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White while they are also admirers of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz. It is unclear whether City will be able to complete a move for Reijnders before they head off to the Club World Cup next month. The Blues face Wydad AC in their opening match on 18 June before they face Al Ain on 23 June and Juventus on 26 June.
