Fabrizio Romano shares what Tijjani Reijnders is thinking about doing right now as Man City…

Manchester City will strengthen this summer and AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has emerged as a key target.

The next transfer window is one of the most important for years for the club, who are in a rebuild phase.

That rebuild commenced in January with four new players coming in: Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez.

It will continue this summer with more new players coming in, but also several leaving.

As many as seven players could leave Manchester City, with Kevin De Bruyne already a confirmed outgoing.

City are interested in AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, and top journalist Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on the club’s pursuit this morning.

There has been a lot of talk about City in relation to transfers over the last few days.

The Florian Wirtz saga has rather dominated, but there has still been some talk about Tijjani Reijnders.

It’s clear that the club are making moves right now, and today Romano has shared what he knows about the pursuit of the Dutchman.

🚨🔵 Manchester City will submit a formal, opening bid to AC Milan for Tijjani Reijnders in the upcoming weeks.

He states that a bid will be made. But that City won’t do that until AC Milan have finished their season.

He said: “Manchester City will submit a formal, opening bid to AC Milan for Tijjani Reijnders in the upcoming weeks.

“Reijnders wants to focus on final games of the season with Milan and Man City respect that; then bid will follow next as he’s the main target at #8.”

It has previously been claimed that Manchester City could offer in the region of £60 million for Reijnders, who is open to a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Reijnders move may have Nico Gonzalez worried

Midfield is certainly an area City need to address this summer.

Reijnders seems to be a genuine target, and one wonders what that might mean for Nico Gonzalez.

Gonzalez only signed for City at the end of the January transfer window, and has made 14 appearances so far.

His involvement has been decreasing recently, with the Spaniard making just three appearances (two starts, one cameo) in City’s last six Premier League games.

Reijnders coming in would mean more competition, and obviously Rodri will also be available again, plus Nico O’Reilly has emerged as a potential option to play in midfield, even though he’s spent a lot of time at left-back recently.
