Premier League winners Liverpool may be at the pinnacle of English football but it does not mean they should quit while they are ahead, as there are plenty of options to help them retain the title.
Arne Slot’s first season at Liverpool has been pretty smooth sailing and he can already call himself a Premier League winning manager as the Reds wrapped the title up in late April with four games to spare.
Rest and recovery are now the two main aims for his squad, but additions are needed to help build their advantage at the top and replace key players leaving, with one of these being homegrown Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is departing as a free agent.
After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season.
This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life.
I know many of you have wondered why or been frustrated that I haven’t spoken about this… pic.twitter.com/emAw5RvXq0

Losing players on a free is never ideal for any club, but signing players for nothing has huge potential. With that, here are three free agents that Liverpool should snap up this summer.

Joining from a direct rival would certainly be ambitious and potentially damage the 10-year legacy that Kevin de Bruyne has built at Manchester City, but this story has more legs to it than how it appears on the surface.
During an interview while he was playing for KAA Gent’s academy, the Belgian admitted that his favourite team was Liverpool and his favourite player was Michael Owen, something that could influence his next move.
The 33-year-old is a serial Premier League winner and has the ability to unlock defences like no other, with his experience and ability on the ball something that could help Liverpool win back-to-back titles, something De Bruyne has done on multiple occasions.

It is certainly a short-term option, but one that could send shockwaves throughout the league and spur the Reds on in the title defence.

He may be another ex-Man City player, but Leroy Sane has been linked with Liverpool before, making this another viable option.
The pacy winger was a nightmare for defenders during his time in the Premier League, something he carried over with him to the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.
Liverpool may have a great depth of attacking options, but with Luis Diaz on Barcelona’s radar, as well as Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez linked with a summer move away, there could very well be space for Sane in a sensational return to English football.

A stalwart centre-back in Germany over the past decade, the 29-year-old is a more sensible option to increase squad depth at the back for the Reds, although they would need to act fast as Jonathan Tah is wanted by Bayern Munich.
Strong, powerful and a natural leader, he could be the perfect option to rotate with Ibrahima Konate and partner Virgil van Dijk, particularly given the Frenchman’s injury record.
Liverpool’s longest-serving player Joe Gomez and youngster Jarrel Quansah have also been attracting interest, making a move for Tah a smart one, football-wise and financially.
