Former Ipswich Town midfielder Andre Dozzell has extended his stay at Portsmouth for the 2025/26 season.

The 26-year-old moved to Fratton Park last summer following his departure from QPR, having previously spent time on loan at Birmingham City in 2023/24.

Dozzell has been a regular for John Mousinho's side, featuring 41 times in all competitions and scoring twice for Pompey as they finished their 16th in the second tier.

His contract was due to expire this summer, but under terms of the 12-month deal he signed, Dozzell was entitled to an extension as Portsmouth avoided relegation back to League One.

Manager Mousinho is delighted to retain a player he believes has ‘surpassed expectations’ during an impressive maiden campaign on the the South Coast.

He said: "Andre has been great, he has surpassed expectations. He has been incredibly effective in any position we’ve played him, whether as a six, an eight, or, a couple of times, as a 10.

"He's had a very positive influence on us in terms of what we’ve tried to do and played more than 30 games. Andre’s performances have also improved week on week, which is the most pleasing thing."

Son of Blues legend Jason, Andre came through the youth ranks at Portman Road and memorably scored on his debut aged 16 - just like his dad had done - in 2016.

He went on to make 93 appearances for his hometown club before his £1m switch to QPR in 2021, with the West London club triggering a release clause in his contract.

Dozzell will face Town back in the Championship next season after the Blues' relegation from the Premier League.
