Sean Dyche shares the real concern he has for Everton when they move into Bramley-Moore Dock…

Everton are leaving Goodison Park for the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium at the end of the season.

It’ll be an emotional day on Sunday when Everton face Southampton at Goodison Park, and it’s understood that the club has some exciting plans to mark the historic occasion.

There has been a suggestion that Everton players will wear a special edition kit, though, nothing has been confirmed just yet.

Whilst it’ll be sad to bid farewell, it marks a new opportunity at the new state-of-the-art stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock, which will house in excess of 52,000 fans.

Although, Sean Dyche is concerned it may not be a positive move for Everton, at least in the short to medium term.

Sean Dyche concerned for Everton as they move into Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium

Sean Dyche has been reflecting on his favourite memory at Goodison Park and waxed lyrical about the Grand Old Lady.

When asked by Gary Neville whether Everton’s new stadium will bring a positive future, Dyche wasn’t convinced.

“You don’t know do you because… Arsenal right, they get the new stadium and there’s a bit of a weird… you know, everyone’s going ‘I’m not sure’,” the former Everton boss said.

“And over time it becomes the new Arsenal, so you don’t know do you? How’s that going to affect the Grand Old Lady and the feeling and the fans on top of you?

“How do you measure that until you go out there and do it. And it still comes down to having good players, of course, they’re going to need more players, Everton, to be more successful than what they are, they’re going to need more players and an improvement on them.”

Bramley-Moore Dock will allow Everton to spend much more freely

Bramley-Moore Dock will be transformative for Everton’s finances, as it’s expected to bank them an extra £40m in revenue every year.

Further, Dan Friedkin is in talks for a £100m naming rights deal, so clearly they’ll be a much wealthier club for it.

That’ll give David Moyes great resources in the transfer market, so the new stadium should be nothing but a positive change.

Indeed, the sadness of leaving Goodison is there and will be felt for years to come, but to evolve and compete with some of the Premier League’s big boys, it needed to happen.
