Manchester United chief Jason Wilcox is on the lookout for a new academy coach after Adam Lawrence left as he sought opportunities as first-team boss. The 39-year-old has had several offers and is now weighing up his options - but has left a vacancy at Carrington.
Lawrence's exit had been likely and he's looking to work in a first-team environment but is equally open to a fresh academy challenge. Wilcox and Nick Cox are now eyeing someone to replace the outgoing coach with talks already underway, reports the MEN.
Wilcox is among those bought to Manchester under the Sir Jim Ratcliffe reign and served as technical director, but did step in as sporting director. Wilcox, earlier in his career, served as academy director at Manchester City and has proven himself in that capacity.
He helped unearth the likes of Phil Foden and United will hope that experience aids them in their recruitment process as they look to continue their strong academy tradition. The club have backed youth for years and continue to produce young talent.
Kobbie Mainoo is the latest graduate who has become a first-team regular and those involved in the academy set-up will be tasked with producing more players of that quality to aid the squad.

Neil Wood was the last high-profile coaching departure from the academy. He had managed the U21s for three years and that helped him get appointed at the Salford City boss with the Class of 92 holding a high opinion of him - he led the club to the League Two play-offs.
Amorim gave 27 debuts to academy players during his time in charge at Sporting Lisbon - several of those going on to become key players - and he is already showing faith in United’s young talent this season. Recently handing debuts to the likes of Tyler Fredricson
Adam Lawrence will leave his role in the Man Utd academy
Cox, who is the Head of the academy, said on Lawrence's efforts: "Adam has contributed greatly to our club throughout his four years at Manchester United. His passion for helping young players to maximise their potential has played an important role in the success of our academy system.
"We take great pride in supporting and witnessing the development of our staff, Adam is a fine example of that, moving up from the Under-16s to the Under-18s, enjoying success and now being ready to seek a new challenge in the game."
