Jamie Vardy's final Leicester City match confirmed as Bournemouth decision made

Jamie Vardy’s Leicester City career will end this weekend with the striker to play no part in the club’s final match of the campaign at Bournemouth.

This Sunday’s meeting with Ipswich had been billed as Vardy’s final home game after 13 years in a City shirt, but it will be his final match overall.

As things stand, there are no plans for him to feature in the club’s last fixture of the campaign, away at Bournemouth.

It means Vardy’s career at City will end on 500 appearances. He hopes it will also end on at least 200 goals, the number nine sitting on 199 as things stand.

Plans are in place for Sunday’s match to be a celebration of Vardy. Supporters are encouraged to be in the stands well in advance of kick-off to take part in a pre-match display, and to remain in their seats after the full-time whistle for post-match activities, with former team-mates to join Vardy on the pitch.

Three of Vardy’s title-winning team-mates Shinji Okazaki, Danny Drinkwater and Matty James will be at the club’s fanzone outside the King Power Stadium before the match. The fanzone opens at midday.

In the game, City are aiming to go three matches unbeaten for the first time in the Premier League this season, having beaten Southampton and drawn with Nottingham Forest in their last two.

Victory over Ipswich would put City in the driving seat to finish 18th, with each position up the table worth around £2.8m in prize money.
