Manchester United are preparing for their final three games of the season, starting with a trip to Stamford Bridge tomorrow night to face fifth place Chelsea.

However, with the extent of injuries currently plaguing Ruben Amorim’s side, the Portuguese is having to rely on his youngsters once again this season.

United are still without Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in defence, whilst Joshua Zirkzee also ruled out up front.

Already this season Amorim and his side have made away trips with a bench predominantly made up of academy stars, most notably to face Tottenham back in February.

As such we’ve seen Harry Amass, Tyler Fredricson and Chido Obi all make their debuts this season, with several academy prospects making up numbers in first team training.

Now, Manchester Evening News has revealed that another youngster has made the step up to first-team training for the first time.

United youngster James Overy has now stepped up to join his first senior team training session, taking part in their midweek session yesterday.

The exciting right-back joined The Red Devils last summer as one of the first major young signings under the INEOS reign at Old Trafford.

Having played for Perth Glory previously, Overy moved to the UK with his parents in 2024, having trials with United, West Ham and Everton.

However, his admiration of The Red Devils led to the 17-year-old choosing a move to Old Trafford over the other Premier League sides.

This step up to the senior training sessions marks another milestone in the youngster’s path to the senior squad, with Overy set to be a key part of the next class of Red Devils.
