Liverpool have been dealt another transfer blow by Real Madrid.

Arne Slot's side already look set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold to Los Blancos when his contract expires in the summer. The full-back, 26, announced his time at the club will come to an end in the summer with Madrid his likely destination.

And Madrid have now moved on to another defensive target, Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen. Huijsen, 20, has a £50million release clause that has been triggered by Madrid, according to the BBC.

Real made contact with Bournemouth on Wednesday and discussions are ongoing between the clubs, with the Spanish giants wanting him as part of their Club World Cup squad.

Sky Sports are reporting personal terms are also being negotiated.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted: "Understand Dean Huijsen’s camp has landed in Madrid to close the deal with Real.

"Length of the contract being discussed with 5 year deal on the table. Deal done club to club for £50m clause to be paid in 3 instalments, player’s contract being sorted."

Huijsen signed for Bournemouth last summer to the tune of £12m. The defender had made one appearance for Juventus and 13 for Roma over the course of the 23/24 season.

"I'm very calm. I don't really focus on it, now is not the time. I'm just focused on finishing the season well," Huijsen said of the speculation earlier this month.

"My dad is my agent, he fixes everything, I don't read anything, I don't think about it too much, I'm just focusing on my football and working hard."
