Kyle Walker says the 'best connection' he ever had at Man City was with £26m man who left after …

Kyle Walker’s Manchester City career is coming to an end.

After eight years with the Manchester club, Walker will leave Man City at the end of the season, having become a club legend since moving from Tottenham, as the right-back has won everything at the Etihad Stadium, in addition to captaining the club.

Walker joined AC Milan on loan in January, but it remains to be seen if the Italian giants sign the 34-year-old on a permanent deal this summer, as his future remains up in the air.

Throughout his successful spell at City, the England star played with some exceptional stars and reflecting on his time in Manchester, Walker has named a surprise £26m star as the player he had the ‘best connection’ with at the Etihad.

Kyle Walker had a great relationship with Danilo at Man City

Man City signed Danilo during the summer of 2017 as part of a £26.4m deal with Real Madrid, with the Brazilian star providing Walker with immediate competition, however, the Englishman embraced the challenge.

Speaking on The Kyle Walker Podcast, the right-back has stated that the competition brought the two players closer together and that they would show support for one another depending on which one Pep Guardiola chose to play at right-back.

“I think with Tripps that’s the best connection I’ve had, alongside Danilo at City, as a right-back, whichever one the manager picked to play we both showed support for each other and wanted the best for the team,” Walker stated.

“We knew it wasn’t a thing between A and B, the manager had the choice, and we respected that and showed encouragement and togetherness to make sure the other one did well.”

Walker would eventually win that battle and develop into one of the world’s best full-backs, with Ola Aina stating that the Man City star is the greatest right-back the Premier League has ever seen.

Man City are in the market to replace Walker at present, and the Manchester club could be about to bring in another Danilo.

Man City pushing to sign the next Danilo

When it comes to recruiting for the right-back role in Guardiola’s team next season, Man City’s top target is Flamengo’s Wesley, which would see another Brazilian full-back arrive at the Etihad Stadium.

There is still work to be done on the deal, however, Wesley has already given the green light to move to City next season.

Liverpool have also shown interest in Wesley, however, they seem to be moving away from the 21-year-old, with the Reds’ focus now seeming to be on Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

The Brazilian is set to cost an interested party around £30m this summer, and it remains to be seen if Man City make an official move for the right-back, as they also have several other targets on their list.
