REPORT: Man United Identify‘Priority Target’To Replace Onana And His Price Tag Has Been Cut£25M

Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa is a “priority target” for Manchester United, according to reports.

Stretty News claim that the Red Devils have identified six potential candidates to replace Andre Onana, with the Portuguese international top of their list.

It is believed that Porto may consider offloading Costa for €45m (£38m), which is €30m (£25m) below his €75m (£63m) release clause.

However, there are two other clubs interested in signing the shot-stopper, with Manchester City and Bayern Munich also keen on making him their new No.1.

Who are the other 5 keepers that Man United are targeting?

In addition to Costa, Stretty News report that Ruben Amorim’s side are big fans of Lille’s Lucas Chavalier. The Frenchman’s recent comments suggest that he would be open to making the switch to Old Trafford.

Other names on the shortlist include long-term targets Bart Verbruggen, Parma’s Zion Suzuki, as well as Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale.

A move for AC Milan’s Mike Maignan can’t be ruled out either. France’s first-choice goalkeeper is closing in on the final year of his contract and could be sold by the Rossoneri this summer.

What is the current situation with Onana?

It is believed that United need to raise at least £26.3m from the Cameroon star’s sale or they could run into problems with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

If they can’t find a buyer for Onana, it may complicate attempts to bring in a replacement. The club’s transfer budget will be limited if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.

It means the outcome of the Europa League final next week may have a bearing on whether the Red Devils do bring in a new keeper. Based on the current information, though, it appears that Costa is the favoured candidate if they can make the deal work financially.
