Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is looking to a Premier League return amid recent links to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
The Dutchman joined United in 2022 being the permanent replacement to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, following interim managers Michael Carrick and Ralf Rangnick holding the fort.
After two and a half years, with an FA Cup and Carabao Cup to his name, plus the club’s worst-ever Premier League campaign at that time, United made the decision to part ways with ten Hag in October 2024.
Since then Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Manchester United hierarchy appointed Ruben Amorim as his successor, however, the Portuguese manager has failed to turn around the club’s dismal season.
Ten Hag has yet to take on a new role since leaving Old Trafford, however has been linked to high-profile roles with Roma and Juventus.
However, The Athletic have now teased a potential return to English football for the Dutch manager whilst also being linked to Bayer Leverkusen.

Erik ten Hag is currently being considered as a successor for Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen as the former midfielder is set to take up the managerial role with Real Madrid.
Alonso is set to re-join his former club after Carlo Ancelotti is leaving to take on the head coach role with Brazil’s national team.
As such the Bundesliga side are in need of a new manager with ten Hag joining the likes of Cesc Fabregas on the club’s shortlist.
However, the Dutch manager is reportedly open to returning to the Premier League despite his resent departure from United.
At this time it looks to purely be a hope of ten Hag’s rather than any solid plan, with the Dutchman not currently linked to any Premier League side.
