The reason why Jamie Vardy's final Leicester City appearance will be this weekend

It will be an emotional weekend for Leicester City as they prepare to wave goodbye to Jamie Vardy.

Vardy confirmed he would leave Leicester after 13 wonderful years, where he won pretty much everything there is to win.

A second relegation in three years to the Championship is not the fairytale ending the 38-year-old was hoping for.

Sheffield Wednesday fans want Vardy to sign for his boyhood club but in the meantime, it’s all about bringing down the curtain on his time with the Foxes.

Despite having another game to go against Bournemouth on May 26, Vardy will play his final Leicester game against Ipswich Town this weekend.

Jamie Vardy to make 500th Leicester City appearance this weekend

There’s no doubting that Vardy is Leicester’s greatest player of all time and the 38-year-old will want to end it in perfect style.

This weekend’s game will be another milestone for Vardy as the forward makes his 500th appearance for the Foxes.

As 500 is the perfect round number and in front of the home supporters, the player and club want it to end that way.

A statement on the club’s official website has also revealed that Leicester plan to mark Vardy’s career with pre and post-match tributes to the number nine.

Jamie Vardy one goal away from the magic 200

500 games may not be the only milestone that Vardy reaches against Ipswich this weekend and will be hoping to end his chapter with a goal in front of the home faithful.

Currently, Vardy is sat on 199 goals after his strike against Southampton. He missed a great chance to score against Nottingham Forest but the 38-year-old now has one final chance to hit number 200.

If he is to score it’s unlikely that there will be a dry eye in the stands and I think even supporters of opposition clubs will be happy to see him reach that total.
