Newcastle United are eager to buy a new striker this summer.
The Magpies have been targeting Liam Delap, but look set to miss out on the Ipswich Town forward.
Manchester United are favourites to sign Delap, who is available for £30million following Ipswich’s relegation to the Championship.
A £30million deal for Delap represents real value, and Newcastle United will be disappointed if they miss out.
Eddie Howe will have to look elsewhere, with Benjamin Sesko another striker that is on the Magpies’ radar.

Newcastle United continue to scout Benjamin Sesko
Newcastle tried to sign Sesko in 2022, and have continued to be linked with the Slovenian ever since.
The Daily Mail have reported that Newcastle United have been scouting Sesko this season, watching him as recently as this month.
The 21-year-old has scored 21 goals in all competitions for RB Leipzig during the 2024/25 campaign, and could be set for a move away.

He is extremely highly rated, with Alan Shearer calling Sesko ‘top class’ before admitting he looks ready-made for the Premier League.
Fabrizio Romano provides Benjamin Sesko update
Shearer’s prediction could be put to the test in the near future, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano providing a major update on the striker’s future.
Romano has stated on his YouTube channel that Sesko is ‘expected’ to be on the move this summer.
“Benjamin Sesko is expected to leave Red Bull Leipzig in the summer transfer window,” he said.
“For sure, it is going to be a busy summer in Leipzig because they will not play Champions League football next season.”
Sesko’s future is very important for Newcastle United
There is one thing that Newcastle United fans must remember about Sesko. He will only arrive at St James’ Park if Alexander Isak leaves.
Given his ability, there is simply no way that Sesko would join Newcastle United to compete with Isak.
The fact that Newcastle have continued to scout Sesko shows that the club are doing their due diligence just in case Isak does leave. The 25-year-old is attracting a lot of attention, but Isak is expected to be too expensive for any of his suitors.
Despite that, Newcastle are right to have a contingency plan in place.
No matter what, the Magpies will pay close attention to Sesko’s future. He has also been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea, two clubs that need a striker and have been mentioned as options for Isak.
If either of them were to land Sesko, their interest in Isak would be over.
Even if he does not join Newcastle United, Benjamin Sesko could have a big impact at St James’ Park this summer.
